What it does
Webex Events is Cisco's platform for running in-person, virtual and hybrid events from one place. It was formerly called Socio. It covers registration, ticketing, live streaming, Q&A, polls, mobile apps for attendees and reporting after the event. The vendor describes events of up to 100,000 attendees.
Attendees join from a browser with nothing to download. It also runs automated webinars alongside live sessions, so one tool can cover a flagship conference and the smaller sessions around it.
Why you would need it
The pain starts when an event is split across tools. Registration is in one system, the stream is in another, the app is a third, and the results sit in a spreadsheet you build by hand afterwards. Each handover loses data about who attended what.
A single platform keeps the attendee record in one place. Registration feeds the live session, the live session feeds engagement data, and that data goes to the CRM so sales can follow up with the people who showed interest. For a hybrid event, it also means in-person and online guests are measured in the same way.
Where it fits
It sits next to a company's Webex and Cisco collaboration tools and connects to the CRM for lead capture, from registration through to follow-up. Think of HubSpot or Salesforce as the place where attendee data should end up.
It is built to run the whole event, not to replace one point tool. If you only run simple webinars, it can replace a webinar tool, but that is probably more platform than you need.

My take
I would look at Webex Events when the event is a real programme, with several tracks, a mix of audiences and a need to prove results to the business. The tie to the Webex family is the main draw if your company already runs on it.
Ask for a live demo and a written quote, and check the current feature list with the vendor. For a single online webinar, I would use something lighter.
Verdict
Pick it if you run hybrid conferences, already rely on Webex or Cisco, and want one vendor for registration, delivery and reporting. Skip it if you want self-serve pricing or only run the odd webinar.

Webex Events does not publish prices. It may be sold as part of select Webex Suite enterprise agreements, so check whether it is bundled with your agreement. Ask for a quote that reflects your attendee numbers, event format and number of events a year.

Best inside the Cisco ecosystem
The strongest case is for organisations that already run Webex. If you use another meeting platform, check how well registration, streaming and CRM data connect before you buy.
Heavier than a webinar tool
A full event platform takes more setup than a browser-only webinar tool. If you mostly run one-off sessions, compare Livestorm, Zoom Webinars, GoTo Webinar and BigMarker.
Check your integrations
The vendor mentions CRM integrations. Confirm that yours is supported and how fields map, so registrations and attendance arrive in the right records. Also ask what the public API covers.
