GoTo Webinar vs Webex Events

GoTo Webinar logovsWebex Events logo
GoTo Webinar is built for live and pre-recorded webinars with CRM sync and payments. Webex Events covers whole conferences, in person and hybrid. Both sell through sales conversations.

The verdict

For online-only webinars and training, with CRM sync and attendance reports, pick GoTo Webinar. It does the job without the weight of a full event platform.

For hybrid conferences with several tracks, a mobile app, sponsors and a need to report across in-person and online guests, pick Webex Events. This is strongest when your company already runs on Webex or Cisco.

This truly depends on the event. If you are a small B2B team running mostly webinars, I'd compare both against a self-serve tool first, because neither is quick to buy. If you must choose between these two, match the tool to the format and ask each for a written quote.

Who each is for

GoTo Webinar logo

Choose GoTo Webinar if…

Pick Webex Events if you run conferences that mix in-person and virtual attendance, and you want registration, ticketing, streaming, the attendee app and reporting from one vendor.

It is best inside the Cisco ecosystem. If you use another meeting platform, check how well registration, streaming and CRM data connect before you buy.

It is heavier than a webinar tool, so it is wasted on the odd online session. There is no public price, and it may be bundled into select Webex Suite enterprise agreements, so check your agreement first. Ask what the public API covers and how fields map into your CRM.

Webex Events logo

Choose Webex Events if…

Pick GoTo Webinar if you are a corporate training team or a marketing team running regular, larger webinars. You want branded registration, automated reminders, CRM sync to HubSpot, Salesforce Pardot or Marketo, and attendance reports.

Payment processing for paid events and certifications, and Simulive, are the features that set it apart from a plain meeting tool.

It is not for fast self-serve sign-up. The plan names have been restructured and public prices are not clearly listed, so ask for a quote against your attendee numbers and sessions per year, and ask about trial terms.
