What it is
The tool looks at past activity on your accounts and suggests times when your followers are most likely to see and respond. Some tools show a simple heat map, while others queue posts at the recommended times automatically. Buffer, Later, Sprout Social and Metricool are among the tools that list it.
Why it matters
Posting at the wrong time can mean a post is buried before anyone sees it. Suggestions save the effort of testing times yourself. They are only as good as your own data, so a new account with few followers may get weak advice. Treat them as a starting point, and compare them with your own results.
What to check
- Is the advice based on your own audience, or on general averages.
- Does it work for every network you use.
- Can it add posts to a queue at those times automatically.
- How much history does it need before the suggestions are useful.
