Later
Why Later
Later schedules and publishes visual content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and YouTube Shorts. It targets social media managers, creators and small marketing teams who need visual planning and analytics. The platform includes a link-in-bio tool and AI-assisted caption generation to streamline workflows.
What it does
Later is a social media scheduler built around a visual calendar. You plan posts for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, YouTube Shorts, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Snapchat, drag them into place and publish them automatically. Around the calendar sit a media library, AI tools for captions and ideas, analytics, a Link in Bio page and, on the higher plans, a social inbox.
Later also sells influencer marketing: software to find and manage creators, and full-service programmes where a team runs the campaigns for you. The vendor's homepage now leads with that side of the business, so be clear about which half you are buying.
Why you would need it
Posting by hand to several platforms is a time sink. You feel it when the content calendar lives in a spreadsheet, the files sit in five places and someone forgets to post on Thursday. A visual planner lets you see the whole feed before it goes live, and one calendar replaces the app switching.
If you sell to consumers, or your brand depends on how Instagram and TikTok look, that planning step is worth real money. If you mostly post text on LinkedIn, it is less of a need.
Where it fits
Later sits between your content and your social profiles. Content comes from your own files, from Canva exports and from Dropbox. It then goes out to the platforms, and the Link in Bio page sends traffic to your site, with Google Analytics and a Mailchimp form as options. It replaces manual posting and the spreadsheet calendar.
Alternatives in this library are Buffer, Hootsuite, Metricool, Publer, SocialPilot and Sprout Social.
What stands out
- A drag and drop visual planner that shows how your feed will look before you publish.
- Best Time to Post suggestions for Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, shown right in the calendar.
- Link in Bio with linked posts: up to five links on an Instagram post, so a feed becomes a shoppable page.
- Plans built around social sets, where one set holds one profile for each supported platform, which makes limits easy to read.
My take
Later is a good fit when visuals drive your marketing. The calendar is the product, and the Instagram tools are clearly where most of the care went.
What I would watch is the pull towards influencer marketing. If all you need is scheduling, check that you are not paying for a company that now wants to sell you creator campaigns. Also look at the limits early, because posts per profile, AI credits and extra users are capped on the lower plans.
Verdict
Pick Later if you run a visual, Instagram and TikTok heavy brand and want planning, analytics and link in bio in one place. Skip it if you post mostly text, or if you only need a plain queue. A simpler scheduler will do that for less effort.
Notes
Your note
Before you choose
Limits on the lower plans
The entry plan has one social set, one user and 30 posts per profile each month. Extra social sets and extra users are not available there at all. Growth raises the post limit, and Scale removes it. Count your profiles and your team before you choose.

AI credits are capped
AI captions and ideas run on credits, and each plan has an allowance that resets every month. One credit makes one caption or three ideas. Heavy users can run out, and then you buy more credits on the higher plans.
Features are split by plan
The social inbox, approval workflows, shared calendars and custom roles sit above the entry plan. Competitive benchmarking, brand mentions and custom analytics sit on the top plan. If you work with clients or a team that needs sign-off, check the approval features first.
Trial, not a free plan
There is a 14-day free trial and no free plan. Test the link in bio page and the publishing for each of your platforms during that time, because some features depend on the platform, such as which Instagram posts allow user tags.
