No-code builder

What it is
A no-code builder lets you create an AI agent or workflow by filling in forms, dragging steps into place or describing what you want in plain language. You do not need a developer to write or deploy code. A sales manager could build an agent that answers common customer questions, for instance, by choosing a knowledge source and setting a few rules. Botpress, ChatGPT, Dust, Gemini, Lindy, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Relevance AI, Swoep and Zapier Agents are listed with this feature.
Why it matters
If every change needs a developer, small improvements wait in a queue and the people who understand the process cannot adjust it. A no-code builder puts that control with the business team and speeds up trial and error. You need it when the people running the process are not programmers. A technical team that wants full control over logic, testing and version history may find a visual builder limiting.
What to check
- Ask what the builder cannot do and whether there is a way to add code later if you outgrow it.
- Test by building one real workflow from start to finish without help and note where you got stuck.
- Check whether changes can be tested before they go live, and whether you can roll back.
- Find out how several people can work on the same agent without overwriting each other.
