What it is
A visual automation builder lets you draw a workflow instead of writing it as code or filling in long forms. You place a trigger, such as someone joining a list, then add steps such as send an email, wait three days, or split people into branches depending on what they did. The result is a flowchart you can read at a glance. ActiveCampaign, Klaviyo and Kit are examples of tools that list it.
Why it matters
Automations tend to grow. A welcome sequence turns into a set of branches for customers, leads and people who went quiet, and a plain list of steps becomes hard to follow. A visual canvas helps non-technical marketers see where a contact will go next and spot gaps. If you only need one simple welcome email, a basic step list is perfectly fine.
What to check
- Can you branch on conditions such as opened, clicked, tag or purchase, and rejoin branches afterwards.
- Can you see how many people are at each step right now.
- Can you test the flow with a sample contact before switching it on.
- What happens to people already in the flow when you edit it.
