Strong EU/GDPR coverage
On this pageWhat it is
What it is
This feature covers two things at once. The first is coverage, meaning the tool holds enough accurate contacts and companies in European countries. The second is compliance, meaning the vendor explains where the data came from, offers a data processing agreement, respects opt-outs and keeps records in line with the GDPR. For example, Cognism, Dealfront and Leadinfo present themselves as strong in Europe, and Apollo and Lusha also appear on the list of tools with this feature.
Why it matters
Many databases were built mainly around US companies, so European coverage can be thin and the data often comes from sources that are harder to defend under EU law. Fines and complaints are a real cost for a company that contacts people in the EU without a lawful basis. You need strong coverage when your buyers are in Europe, particularly in countries with stricter rules on unsolicited messages, such as Germany. If you only sell in the US, this is a smaller concern.
A vendor's claim does not make your own outreach compliant. You still need a lawful basis, a clear message and a way for people to opt out.
What to check
- How many contacts does the tool hold in each country you sell to, and how recent are they?
- Does the vendor provide a data processing agreement and say where the data is stored?
- Is there a suppression list and a simple way to honour opt-out requests across the account?
- How does the vendor say the data was collected, and can it show this in writing?
