Advanced lead and account search with buyer signals and messaging built directly into LinkedIn.

Why LinkedIn Sales Navigator

Sales Navigator is LinkedIn's paid prospecting and relationship-intelligence layer built into the platform. It gives you advanced search to filter professionals by role, seniority, and company, save them into lead lists, and get alerts when they change jobs or companies. InMail lets you message people you are not connected to directly.

Best for
B2B founders and sales teams who prospect on LinkedIn and need deeper search, saved lists, lead alerts and InMail to find and reach the right buyers.

What it does

Sales Navigator is LinkedIn's paid prospecting product. It adds more than 50 search filters, such as function, seniority and years at company, across a network of more than a billion members. You save leads and accounts into lists, save searches, and get alerts when something changes, such as a job move.

It also gives you InMail credits to message people outside your network, TeamLink to find warm paths through your colleagues' connections, and AI drafts for outreach in select languages, in public beta. The Advanced Plus plan adds CRM sync and more alerts.

Why you would need it

Free LinkedIn search is not built for prospecting. You need a list of decision makers at a defined set of accounts, and a way to know when a champion changes company. A job move is one of the warmest signals in B2B.

You feel the need when you build target lists by hand, or when you hear that your best contact left six months ago.

Where it fits

Sales Navigator is a research and targeting layer on top of the network. It feeds your CRM, your outreach tools and your account plans. On the Advanced Plus plan it connects to Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics and Oracle, adds leads directly and checks for duplicates.

It does not give you email addresses, so people pair it with an enrichment or data tool such as Apollo, Cognism, Lusha or ZoomInfo. It sits behind the free LinkedIn account you already have.

What stands out

  • Deep filters and saved searches, so the list becomes a standing radar.
  • Lead and account alerts for job changes and other updates.
  • TeamLink, which turns your team's connections into warm introductions.
  • CRM sync on the top plan, with duplicate checks and automatic detail fill-in.

My take

The data quality is the advantage. Members keep their own profiles current, so roles and companies are usually fresher than in scraped databases, and the job change alerts are useful.

The trade-offs are real too. It is a paid product on top of an account you may already pay for, and it gives you people, not their inboxes, so it is rarely your only spend. Left unmanaged, your saved leads turn into noise. It is a targeting layer, not a sequencer.

Verdict

Pick Sales Navigator if your buyers live on LinkedIn and you build targeted lists of decision makers at named accounts. Skip it if your buyers are not active there, or if you want a hands-off outbound machine.

Before you choose

Features differ by plan

There are three plans: Core, Advanced and Advanced Plus. CRM sync, content-engagement alerts and buyer intent features sit higher up, and TeamLink and AI drafts need Advanced or above. Check the plan comparison for the one feature you need before you pick.

No contact details

You get profiles, not verified emails or phone numbers. Budget for an enrichment tool, and check that the one you choose fits your target countries.

Trial length is not stated

The vendor offers a free trial for Core and Advanced, but its page gives no day count. Ask before you start, and prepare your target account list so the trial time is used well.

Automation puts the account at risk

LinkedIn does not permit tools that automate activity on its site, and accounts can be restricted. Use Sales Navigator for research and targeting, and keep outreach personal and low volume.
