Built-in AI

What it is
Built-in AI means the tool itself can write, summarise, classify or answer questions using an AI model, inside the screens you already use. Examples include drafting an email in Klaviyo, summarising a recording in Loom, or generating a table structure in Airtable. You do not need to connect a separate AI product or copy text between windows.
Why it matters
Built-in AI is attractive because it saves small chunks of time many times a day, such as writing a first draft or tidying notes. The value depends heavily on the task. For a marketer who writes a lot of copy it can matter a great deal, and for someone who only stores records it may be a gimmick. It also raises questions about where your data goes. If you handle client or personal information, the way the vendor shares that data with AI providers matters as much as the feature itself.
What to check
- Ask exactly which tasks the AI covers and whether it is included in the plan you would buy or sold as an extra.
- Check whether your content is used to train the vendor's or a third party's models, and whether that can be switched off.
- Try the AI on a real task from your own work rather than the demo example.
- Find out whether results can be reviewed and edited before anything is sent or saved.
