Mailshake
Why Mailshake
Mailshake runs email-led sales sequences across email, phone and LinkedIn from one platform. It includes built-in contact finding, deliverability tools and A/B testing. B2B sales teams, agencies and founders use it for cold outreach campaigns because the workflow stays simple and efficient without sacrificing coverage.
What it does
Mailshake sends cold outreach sequences. You upload or find contacts, write a message with merge fields, set follow-ups and let it send from your own mailbox. Replies stop the sequence automatically, and a Lead Catcher view shows who is engaging.
Beyond email it can add phone calls with a dialer and social touches to the same sequence. It also has a data finder for prospect emails, an AI email writer called SHAKEspeare, A/B testing, list cleaning and warm-up through SMTP.
Why you would need it
Cold outreach by hand does not scale. Copying names into emails, remembering who to follow up and spotting who replied takes hours, and the replies get lost in a normal inbox.
I would look at Mailshake when a team wants to send structured outreach without a long set-up. Mailshake says a new rep can send campaigns on the first day, and the interface backs that up: it is plain, with few moving parts. Automatic stop rules also prevent the awkward follow-up that arrives after a prospect has already replied.
Where it fits
Mailshake sits between your prospect list and the prospect's inbox. A list, a data finder or a CRM export feeds it. It sends from your own email accounts and passes leads and replies back to your CRM. It lists a native two-way sync with Pipedrive, and Salesforce and HubSpot on higher plans. It replaces a mail merge in a spreadsheet.
What stands out
- A clean workflow with a gentle learning curve, so a rep is productive quickly.
- Deliverability tools built in: a domain set-up assistant, free warm-up through SMTP, a list cleaner and a copy analyser that flags spam words.
- A unified inbox and a Lead Catcher that put replies and engaged leads in one place.
- Sequences that can mix email, phone and social steps.
My take
I adopted Mailshake in 2016 and valued its uncluttered approach. Uploading a CSV, mapping fields and scheduling emails took minutes, not hours. The stop rules meant early campaigns felt polished with little effort.
As my outreach matured I wanted richer personal touches and more channels. Mailshake then lacked personalised images and deeper LinkedIn automation, so I switched to Lemlist in 2017. Lemlist's creative features delivered higher reply rates, but with more complexity and cost, and I appreciated Mailshake's clean workflow whenever I went back to it.
Verdict
Pick Mailshake if your strategy is plain-text cold email and you want a tool that just works. Skip it if you need multi-channel artistry, such as personalised images and deep LinkedIn automation. In that case look at Lemlist.
Notes
Your note
Before you choose
Plans are built around mailboxes and sends
The entry plan limits you to one email address and a cap on monthly sends. Higher plans add more email addresses, unlimited sends, rotation across mailboxes and a unified inbox. Count the mailboxes you plan to send from, since that decides the plan.

CRM and Zapier sit on higher plans
The Salesforce, Pipedrive and HubSpot integrations and the Zapier connection are listed on the Email Outreach plan and above, not on the entry plan. If you need CRM sync, do not start on the cheapest tier.
No free trial
Mailshake says there is no free trial and that payment is required upfront. Read the cancellation terms before you sign up, and run a small test campaign in the first days.
Compare it with the alternatives
Compare Lemlist for personalisation, Reply.io for multichannel sequences, Instantly and Smartlead for many mailboxes. For warm-up on its own, MailReach is a specialist.
