Built-in video calls
Lets people hold a video meeting from inside the tool, without opening a separate meeting app or sending a link from elsewhere.

What it is
Built-in video calls mean you can start a meeting directly from the tool you are already using. Slack has huddles, Zoom AI Companion sits inside Zoom meetings, and Miro and Google Docs let collaborators talk while working on the same board or document. Everyone joins from the same place and sees the same material.
Why it matters
A call is most useful when it happens next to the work. If you must switch to another app, copy a link and invite people, the meeting starts late and the context is lost. It matters most for teams that discuss documents, designs or boards together. It matters less if your company already standardises on one meeting tool, as a second one only creates confusion about where to meet.
What to check
- Are there limits on the number of people or the length of a call?
- Can external guests join without creating an account?
- Does it support screen sharing and recording?
- Does it work alongside your existing meeting tool, or compete with it?
