Sales pipeline and RevOps

Tracks deals through sales stages from first contact to closed sale and reports revenue measures such as pipeline value and conversion between stages.

What it is

A sales pipeline shows every deal in progress and the stage it has reached, for example enquiry, call booked, proposal sent and won. RevOps, short for revenue operations, treats marketing, sales and customer success as one process measured with shared numbers. A tool with this feature records deals and also reports on them, such as how much is in the pipeline, how many deals move from one stage to the next, and how long they take. Compound Growth OS is an example of a tool listed with this feature.

Why it matters

Without a pipeline, sales lives in inboxes and memory, and forecasts are guesses. Shared numbers show where deals stall and which sources bring in revenue. You need this once more than one person works on deals, or when the sales cycle lasts weeks or months. If you make only a few sales a year, a spreadsheet may be enough.

What to check

  • Can you set up your own stages and fields for deals?
  • Which reports are included: pipeline value, conversion rates, deal length and forecasts?
  • Does it connect to marketing and finance data, so you can see revenue by source?
  • Can you import your current deals and export your data if you leave?
