Collect payments on booking

Customers can pay at the moment they book, through a payment provider connected to the booking tool.

What it is

Collecting payments on booking means the visitor pays while reserving the slot. The tool connects to a payment provider, and the booking is only confirmed once the payment succeeds. For example, a consultant charges a fixed fee for a one-hour session, so everyone who books has already paid. Cal.com, Calendly and Lemcal list this feature.

Why it matters

Unpaid bookings lead to no-shows and time spent on invoices. Paying up front filters out casual bookings and makes your income more predictable. It suits paid consultations, coaching and workshops. For free discovery calls, a payment step would put people off.

What to check

  • Which payment providers and currencies are supported?
  • Can you offer refunds or cancellations, and who sets the rules?
  • Does the tool take its own fee on top of the provider's charges?
  • Does it send receipts or handle sales tax on the amount charged?
