Customisable banner
The cookie consent banner can be changed in appearance and wording, for example colours, text, logo, layout and language, to fit your site and its legal needs.

What it is
Banner customisation is the ability to change how the cookie consent banner looks and what it says. You can set colours, fonts, the position on the page, button labels, the text of the message and the languages shown. Cookiebot is listed as having it. Some settings are cosmetic, but others, such as the wording of the choices, affect whether the banner is lawful.
Why it matters
A banner that clashes with your site looks untrustworthy and may be ignored, while a banner that is badly worded can fail legal requirements. Visitors should be able to refuse as easily as they accept. Customisation matters if your brand is important or if you work in several languages. A default banner is fine for a simple site.
What to check
- Check which parts can be changed on your plan, and whether the buttons can be made equally prominent.
- Ask whether the text is translated for each visitor automatically, and whether you can edit the translations.
- Test the banner on mobile as well as desktop.
- Ask whether custom styling can be applied without breaking the legal wording.
