AI search & answers

What it is
AI search and answers go beyond keyword search. Instead of showing a list of articles that contain the typed words, the tool reads your help content, wiki or documents and writes a direct answer, often with links to the sources. For example, an employee types how to refund an order and gets the steps summarised from the relevant policy. Tools such as Guru, Confluence, Document360 and Intercom offer this in different forms.
Why it matters
Knowledge bases fail when people cannot find what is already written. Answer-style search shortens the time to a useful response for customers and for staff, and reduces repeat questions to support. It matters when you have many articles or documents. With a dozen short pages, ordinary search is enough. The quality depends on the content behind it, so out-of-date articles produce out-of-date answers.
What to check
- Does every answer show the sources it used, so a person can verify it.
- Can you control which content it may draw from.
- What happens when no good answer exists, and does it say so or guess.
- Is it available to customers, to staff or to both, and is it included in the plan.
