ActiveCampaign vs Postscript

ActiveCampaign logovsPostscript logo
ActiveCampaign covers email, SMS and WhatsApp with a CRM for lead-driven teams. Postscript is a Shopify retention tool built around SMS and billed by the message.

The verdict

For a small B2B or service team, I'd pick ActiveCampaign. Postscript is built for Shopify retention, not lead follow-up, so a B2B team would still need somewhere to run sales.

If you sell on Shopify and want SMS to carry real revenue, I'd pick Postscript. The compliance support and opt-in tools are the reasons to choose it over a feature bolted onto an email tool.

The pricing shapes differ too. ActiveCampaign prices by contacts, so cost rises as your list grows. Postscript bills by message, with carrier fees shown on their own line, so cost follows your sending and a sale week costs more than a quiet one. Forecast both before you commit. A store on another platform should check the fit with Postscript first.

Who each is for

ActiveCampaign logo

Choose ActiveCampaign if…

Pick Postscript when you run a Shopify brand and want SMS to be a proper revenue channel, with a specialist rather than an add-on.

The visual flow builder has templates for cart and browse abandonment, welcome, upsell and shipping messages. Custom attribution windows let you decide how long after a text a sale still counts. You can run it alongside Klaviyo and use Klaviyo lists to segment subscribers.

You still send the messages, so know the consent rules for the countries you sell to. API access is listed on the Professional tier and above, so check that before you plan to build on it. Skip it when email is your only channel.

Postscript logo

Choose Postscript if…

Pick ActiveCampaign when your follow-up depends on behaviour and someone in sales needs to know about it. A lead downloads a guide, receives a sequence, is scored and triggers a task. That is the core of what it does.

It connects to over a thousand apps, by the vendor's count, and offers a documented API, webhooks and an official remote MCP server.

Its limit is the CRM, which stays light. For a rich data model with custom objects, compare HubSpot or Pipedrive as the CRM and keep ActiveCampaign for messaging. If you mainly sell products on Shopify, Klaviyo or a specialist SMS tool fits better.
