Builds and sells online courses, coaching programmes and digital products without stitching separate tools together.

Why Kajabi

Kajabi is a platform for creators and coaches to build, market and sell online courses, membership communities and digital products. It combines a website builder, checkout, email marketing and community tools in one system, so you do not need to stitch separate platforms together. Use it to launch a first course or run several products at scale.

Best for
Creators, coaches, educators and experts who want to sell courses, coaching, memberships, newsletters and digital products from one platform instead of joining a course tool, an email tool and a payment processor.

What it does

Kajabi is a platform for building and selling knowledge products. You can create courses, coaching programmes, communities, memberships, newsletters, podcasts and digital downloads. It has a landing page builder and email automation, takes payments for subscriptions and one-time sales and shows sales, marketing and product data on one dashboard. AI tools help plan launches and build assistants trained on your content.

Why you would need it

You need it when you sell your expertise and the tools behind it multiply. A course platform, an email tool, a checkout, a landing page builder and a community each have a login, a bill and a data silo. The pain is a customer who buys on one tool and does not show up in another.

Kajabi puts those jobs in one account. The change is that a purchase triggers the right access, emails and follow-up without you wiring three tools together.

Where it fits

It is the centre of a creator's stack. Your audience arrives through social, ads or search and ends at a Kajabi page. Kajabi sells, delivers and follows up. It replaces a separate course platform, email tool and checkout.

It competes with Teachable, Thinkific, Podia, Circle and Kit, each of which covers part of the same ground.

What stands out

  • Many product types in one place. Courses, coaching, memberships, communities, podcasts and downloads share one account.
  • Payments built in. Subscriptions, one-time sales, upsells, downsells and order bumps work in the checkout.
  • AI tools. Cofounder helps plan and draft launches, and Expert Agents are trained on your content.
  • An official MCP server. It is included on all plans and lets AI tools build pages, draft emails and manage content.

My take

The strength is consolidation. You trade flexibility for fewer moving parts, which suits a creator who wants to sell and not integrate. The cost is lock-in: your content, contacts and sales history all sit in one place.

There is no free plan, so you commit to a paid plan from day one, although there is a trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you are only testing whether a course will sell, a cheaper course tool or a simple email list is a safer first test.

Verdict

Pick Kajabi when you already know people will pay for your expertise and you want one platform to run it. Skip it while you are still validating the idea.

Before you choose

Contacts and products set the tier

Plans are Basic, Growth and Pro, with limits on products and contacts. Growth in your list is what usually forces an upgrade. Estimate your contact count for the next year before choosing.

API access is plan dependent

The public API comes with the current Pro plan, and legacy Pro plans had it as an add-on. The MCP server is included on all plans. If you plan to integrate, check the plan first.

Moving out is work

Your courses, contacts, content and sales history live in Kajabi. Moving to another platform means exporting and rebuilding. Decide how you will back up your content and contact list from the start.

Alternatives to compare

Compare Teachable, Thinkific and Podia for courses, Circle and Mighty Networks for communities and Kit for email, if you want to assemble the stack yourself.
