Renewal management

Tracks upcoming contract or subscription renewals per customer and lets you forecast, assign and work them from a dedicated renewals view.

What it is

Renewal management gathers every contract that is coming up for renewal in one list, with the date, value and owner. You can see which ones are at risk, assign them to a person and forecast how much revenue to expect. ChurnZero, Gainsight, Planhat and Totango are examples of tools that offer a renewals view.

Why it matters

Missing a renewal date, or starting the conversation too late, loses customers who would have stayed. A central view makes sure someone is working on each one in good time. It matters most with annual or multi-year contracts, where one lost renewal is a large loss. It matters less with monthly subscriptions that renew without a conversation. A renewals list is only as good as the data in it, so contract dates must be entered correctly.

What to check

  • Can renewal dates and values be imported from your billing or contract system?
  • Does it remind owners ahead of each renewal?
  • Can you forecast expected renewals and flag at-risk accounts?
  • Does it handle upsell or price changes at renewal?
