Built-in e-signature

What it is
Built-in e-signature means the client can sign a proposal directly in the tool, usually by typing, drawing or clicking to accept. The signed document is stored with a record of who signed and when. Better Proposals, GetAccept, PandaDoc, Proposify, Prospero and Qwilr all include this, so the client goes from reading to signing in a single step.
Why it matters
Every extra step between a proposal and a signature is a chance for the deal to stall. A signing service that has to be set up separately adds cost, delay and another tool to manage. It matters when you close deals regularly through a proposal. Remember that rules on what counts as a legally valid electronic signature differ by country and by type of contract, so check that the tool meets the requirements for the contracts you use.
What to check
- Ask what evidence is stored with a signature, such as an audit trail with time and IP address.
- Check whether several people can sign, and in a set order.
- Test the signing experience on a phone.
- Ask whether the signed copy is stored for you and sent to both sides automatically.
