LinkedIn contact capture

Save a LinkedIn profile as a contact in your CRM in one click, with the vendor's own browser extension or app.

What it is

LinkedIn contact capture means the vendor's own browser extension or app lets you save a LinkedIn profile into the CRM as a contact in a click. It fills in name, role and company from the profile. For example, you find a prospect on LinkedIn, click the extension and the contact appears in your CRM with their company already linked. Copper, Folk and Surfe are among the tools that offer this.

Why it matters

Many B2B sales teams find prospects on LinkedIn, and typing each one into the CRM is slow and error-prone. A one-click save keeps the pipeline filled and the data consistent. It matters most when outbound prospecting is a main source of leads. It matters little if your leads arrive through inbound forms or referrals.

What to check

  • Ask whether the extension is made by the CRM vendor or by an outside company.
  • Check which profile fields are saved and whether email addresses are found as well.
  • Test whether it catches duplicates when the person is already in your CRM.
  • Find out whether use of the extension fits LinkedIn's terms for your account type.
