Sequence approval workflow

Managers can require review and approval of sequences or email templates before reps are allowed to use them.

What it is

A sequence approval workflow adds a review step before outreach goes live. A rep writes a sequence or a template, submits it, and a manager or admin approves it, asks for changes or rejects it. Until it is approved, the rep cannot enrol prospects. For example, a sales lead might check that new templates use the approved wording about your product and contain the opt-out line. Outreach is listed as a tool that offers it.

Why it matters

In a growing team, every rep writing their own emails means uneven quality and occasional claims you cannot stand behind. In regulated sectors, or when messages must follow legal or brand rules, review is often a requirement. The feature matters for teams with newer reps and for businesses with compliance obligations. It adds delay and effort, so a small experienced team that trusts each other may prefer to go without it.

What to check

  • Who can approve, and can you assign approvers by team or region.
  • Does it cover whole sequences, single templates or both.
  • Are edits after approval blocked, or do they trigger a fresh review.
  • Is there a record of who approved what and when.
