QuickBooks vs Rabobank

QuickBooks logovsRabobank logo
QuickBooks is accounting software from Intuit and Rabobank is a Dutch business bank. They are not rivals: the bank holds the money, and the software turns its data into books.

The verdict

If you have no business account and you are Dutch, Rabobank is a safe default, and nobody will ask questions about it. If you have a business account and your books live in a spreadsheet, look at accounting software. For a Dutch business, check first that QuickBooks supports Dutch VAT, local bank connections and invoice requirements, since it works best where Intuit sells and supports it. Otherwise compare Moneybird, Exact Online or Xero. Ask your accountant which tool they prefer, and check that the bank feed you need is supported before you switch either.

Who each is for

QuickBooks logo

Choose QuickBooks if…

Pick Rabobank if you need a proper business bank in the Netherlands, one your accountant and the tax authority recognise. Freelancers can take the ZZP account, with no fixed cost and a fee per transaction. The business bundle has a fixed price plus per-transaction fees and a fee tied to your legal form, so read the fee table for your entity type. Allow time for onboarding, because identity and company checks take paperwork. Do not plan to invoice from the new account on day one.

Choose Rabobank if…

Pick QuickBooks if you operate in a market where Intuit sells and supports it and your accountant already knows it. The free plan has one user, and covers income and expense tracking, a profit and loss report and one bank connection, so it is a safe way to test. The moment your accountant needs to log in, you move to a paid plan. Regional fit comes first, because local tax and VAT rules decide whether it works. Compare the regular price, not the introductory discount, when you work out running costs.
