GoDutch vs Neon

GoDutch logovsNeon logo
GoDutch is a business bank account with cards and expense handling for EEA freelancers and small companies. Neon is serverless Postgres for developers. They do not compete, so choose by the problem you have.

The verdict

If you are an EEA freelancer or small company tired of manual bookkeeping, pick GoDutch. It puts the account, the cards and the receipts in one place and feeds your accounting package.

If you are a developer or a small product team that wants Postgres without running it yourself, pick Neon. Branching lets you test migrations against real data and give each pull request its own database.

If you are a software business, you may need both. Do not treat them as alternatives. Start with the problem that costs you time today, which is either your books or your database.

What the data says
  • Both have a free plan, so you can try each before you pay.
  • Only Neon has an MCP server, so an AI employee can work in it directly.
  • In our Product ranking, Neon places 3 and GoDutch 4 of 5.

Who each is for

Choose GoDutch if…

Pick GoDutch if you run a BV, a holding, an association, a foundation or a freelance business in the EEA and want a business account that does more than hold money. There is a free plan, so you can try it without a big decision.

Many useful features are tiered. Automatic invoice reading starts at Starter, virtual IBANs sit on Pro and Max, and API access is only on Max. Every plan also charges a fee per SEPA transaction.

Check that your accounting package is on the integration list before you switch. If you need a multi-currency account for a global team, look at other banks as well.

Choose Neon if…

Pick Neon if you build software and want plain Postgres with a modern developer workflow. Branching is the feature to test first. A Vercel integration can create a database branch for each preview deployment, and it works with any language or ORM that speaks Postgres.

There is a free plan, and paid plans are usage based. That is cheap when idle and variable when busy, so set alerts. The auth, functions and AI gateway services are newer than the database, so assess each one on its own.

If you want a fuller backend with a longer track record, compare Supabase first. It is Postgres only.
