Adobe Acrobat Sign vs DocuSign

Adobe Acrobat Sign logovsDocuSign logo
Acrobat Sign comes with Acrobat and fits teams already in PDFs, Microsoft and Salesforce. Docusign is the specialist, with deeper workflows and a very large integration catalogue. Pick by your stack.

The verdict

For a small business that sends a few contracts, I'd pick neither as a first choice. A lighter tool such as Dropbox Sign, or a proposal tool such as PandaDoc, is easier to run. If you must choose between these two, I'd pick Acrobat Sign when your team already pays for Acrobat and lives in Microsoft 365, since the signing comes with it. I'd pick Docusign when the CRM or ERP should drive the contract, or when the field is regulated.

I used Docusign with two previous clients a few years ago. The integrations were the best part, and plan limits on documents and recipients were the surprise. Check current limits before you buy.

Who each is for

Choose Adobe Acrobat Sign if…

Pick Docusign if signing is a process, not a one-off. It fits sales, HR and finance teams that need a flow tied to the CRM, with the status passed back to the deal. Conditional routing, parallel signing and shared access help when contracts have several parties.

It also has an official MCP server for AI agents. Count your envelopes and signers before choosing a plan, because limits decide the cost and there is no free plan. A 30-day trial exists. For simple contracts, a lighter tool will be faster to set up.

Choose DocuSign if…

Pick Acrobat Sign if your team already works in PDFs and Microsoft 365, or if security and compliance reviews are strict. Adobe lists certifications such as SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001, and integrations with Microsoft 365, Teams, Salesforce and Workday.

Small teams that already pay for Acrobat get e-signatures in the same subscription. Be aware that the team plans are sold per licence with an annual commitment and a cancellation fee after the trial, so read the terms first. Work out whether you need the Acrobat plans or Acrobat Sign Solutions before you compare it with anything else.
